Objectives:

The project aimed to create livelihood investments and assets to alleviate suffering and improve living standards.

Implementation Strategy:

The project ran from February 2022 to March 2023, involving hybrid transfer modalities in CBT and In-kind.

Project Performance Analysis:

  • 100% completion of prosopis clearing
  • 5km of canals rehabilitated
  • 6 vegetable gardens established

Challenges:

  • Inaccessibility of roads to small farms
  • Invasion of crop fields
  • Lack of maintenance for irrigation systems

Lessons Learned & Recommendations:

Food insecurity remains a challenge in Hiran. Recommendations include increasing purchasing power through food baskets, providing training for women/youth, and prioritizing long-term livelihood programs.
